I was out of Flamingo in the Everglades this weekend with my new Nitelite. It became immediately apparent that this is not a suitable tent for beach camping. I probably should have been suspicious when the tent came with 15 stakes... Set up is easy and it's a roomy 1-2 man tent. Lots of ventilation with the fly peeled back but the tension on the stakes required to keep the tent standing in a high wind or downpour makes it difficult or impossible to use on a beach without sand hogs. The other issue with this tent is the attachment of the fly. Instead of fastex buckles, you have to use the locking ends of the poles, which makes it ver difficult to attach and disconnect in a hurry. If I knew I would be camping on firm ground, the tent would be quite acceptable as it is well constructed, and easy (for a staked tent) to erect. REI will be getting a package later this week.
