It seems most everyone has had negative experience with hammocks. I will be the first to admit I was not very fond of them myself. The Voyageur hammock is not like any other hammock. Yes you can sleep on your side or your even your stomach. The bottom material is 2 layer of nylon that do NOT stretch and are pulled very tightly between trees. The sag is very minimal, nothing like the military hammocks. With a sleeping pad under me I'am able to roll over easily and get a great nights sleep. You cant fall out because the sides are wraped around you and the top is over you. I know a hammock is not for everyone and not for every trip but for light weight camping where camping in mud, sloping or rock is expected the Voyageur hammock is worth a look. For those that E-Mailed me, I called Voyageur today and was informed they no longer are making equipment but still have some hammocks left. The reg. length is $77 and the long is $80. The reg fly is $68 and the long is $70. If anyone is handy with sewing machine and wants to make a hammock, E-mail me for more exact dimensions. I have no connection with Voyageur Equipment (no longer making products). I just like there hammock and think it is a alternative to a small tent.
