The last time I was through Fargo, I blinked and missed the Red River, although I know it gets up in the spring, sometimes. I'd think Lake Ashtabula would be about the nearest big lake, and that's got to be a haul. Parts of the Missouri would be fun, and Lake Sakakawea could provide an interesting flatwater trip.
