This is a response to the thread from John Lowe about paddling alone or with groups when one is just starting out with the sport. I agree with John that paddling with a group of informal paddlers or a club is the best way to go. I founded our local sea kayaking club back in 1995 and I have greatly enjoyed the camaraderie and information sharing that takes place on these group paddles. We have a weekly paddle from Lake Calhoun to another lake located two miles away every week during the paddling season and it helps a lot with keeping in shape for Lake Superior paddling on the weekends.
