The group travel's at the speed of the slowest paddler. As leader I will stay 
within shouting distance of this "pace" setter. If you paddle beyond shouting 
distance of my you have left the group. You are on your own until you rejoin 
the group. I will not blow whistles or race after you. It is simple to turn 
around and see how far ahead of the group you are. I will be concerned about 
your welfare as I would about any other Kayak out in the area and hope you 
make it to the camp/take-out.
