Hey Paddle Wise Guys and Gals, Here is some follow-up to the Intenet thread from a few weeks back. Dear Mr. Dimond: Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to a regulation which would allow phone companies to charge long-distance fees for Internet access. I appreciate hearing from you. In response to public concerns on this matter, the Federal Communications Commision (FCC) has released a statement that it has no intention of assessing per-minute charges on Internet use or of making any charges in the way consumers obtain Intenet access is based on a misunderstandind of the FCC’s current consideration of carrier-to-carrier payments. These payments compensate a local telephone company for completing a local call that is placed by one of its competitors customers. Currently, the FCC is considering whether carrier-to-carrier payments must be made for local calls to the Internet service providers. However, this debate is not related to consumer access to the Internet. I hope this information is helpful in clarifying the matter. Thank you again for contacting me. Sincerely Martin Olav Sabo, Member of Congress. Good Paddling,.
