I have given up trying to ship my kayak to Seattle for the Skin Boat Gathering Apr 23-25. But I am still planning to go, and do not want to sit on the beach all day. Does anyone know anyone in Seattle who would rent me a kayak fot that weekend, to go to Fidalgo Island (the kayak would go on top of a rental car)? Or should I rent a foldable from here? Also, if you know the details, is Bowman Bay very far from Seattle? How long does it take to get there by car? Ferry prices? I really appreciate your help. Heading up to Kure Beach, NC, this weekend to take on Cape Fear with my brother. [Hate missing the symposium, but we've had this one planned for a bit!] Weather looks fine for both locations -- sunny; highs in the high 60s to low 70s; lows in the mid 40s to low 50s; though a bit of wind is on the docket (5-15). Should be an awesome paddle!!! In the meantime, had a couple of questions to toss out to those familiar with the cape neighborhood. -- Are there any kayak shops in the Wilmington/Cape Fear area? -- Are there any legal camping areas along the shoreline leading to the cape? -- And, if no legal camping areas, are there any not-so-legal areas we could camp in without worrying about being escorted away in the middle of the night and having our gear being confiscated?
