I used to sail planing dinghies in SF Bay and lost several pair of expensive
prescription spectacles. With the normal tubular headbands that slip over
the earpieces of the glasses, a serious splash will peel the whole thing over
your forehead and off.

The solution was to make a loop of cord from earpiece to earpiece that is
about 18-inches (450-mm) long. put the loop around your neck like you would
with Croakies, Chums, ... Turn the rig around so that the glasses are behind
your head. Then turn the glasses upside down behind you. This forms a twist
in the loop. Then flip the glasses over your head and put them on normally.

You now have a double loop of cord around your neck. If the glasses wash
back over your head, they will be held by the loop caught on your chin.
Other splash-away modes are restrained like the conventional systems.

If you are sufficiently paraniod, you can safety pin the loop to your PFD. I
used to use a shoelace and tie figure-8 knots at the temples. I imagine that
you could use a longer piece of tubing.
