Does anyone have experience with protecting kayak canvas or hypalon against
UV? Australian sunlight is notoriously high in UV and I'm thinking of using
303 Fabricguard on my Klepper Aerius. I've seen it used on a friends boat
and it looks very effective. Larr Bliven mentioned that a similar treatment
on his hardshell made it slippery - is this likely to be a problem?

Thanks PeterO

Good stuff, that 303! I've been using it on my folders for some time now
and it works. Yes, the hypalon will be slicker. In fact, so much slicker
that I hardly have to paddle anymore. :>)

About three years ago I tacked up a piece of deck material to my storage
shed. The ideal was to apply 303 to half of it, twice a year. As the way
things happen, I've forgotten to apply it as often as I wanted, but even
with that, the side that has the 303 on it still looks almost new, while
the other side is BADLY sun damaged and would be beyond usable if on a
boat.

303, good stuff!

James, in New Mexico(with a fair amount of sun also)

I paddle between 25 and 26 latitude and use 303 on EVERYTHING. It really
works and has kept my Nordkapp looking new, as well as my K-Light, PFDs and
all the plastic and rubber trim on my vehicle.

Yes 303 is benign. I would have no issues using 303 on anything (except
maybe mucus membranes, but they should be kept out of the sun anyway)
