Evenin' All, I subscribed to Paddlewise a month or so ago and have been quietly 'lurking' apart from an occasional toe testing of the water. I don't know about you but being identified as a 'lurker' brings on a vision of a shabblily dressed long dark raincoated gentlemen living a vicarious existence peeping through the cyber bedroom windows of the world.' It wasn't me yer Honor, I wus just passing through'. I digress.......... I thought I would do the decent thing and introduce myself to the group. My name is Phil Daligan unfortunately saddled with the nick name of Hooligan awarded to me for 15 years of barely civilised behaviour with a British climbing club noted for it's beer drinking capacity rather than climbing ability. I am a professional sea kayak guide, if one can dignify our existence by that epithet, living and working along the coast of Maine during the summer. The winter finds me guiding down in Belize. I paddle a Romany 18 and a Pintail. I am a B.C.U. 5 star Coach 4 ( sheer nepotism and luck I can assure you) but have less contact with that august body since transplanting to the U.S. I am approaching half a century with the force of dumping surf and feeling the inexhorable back tow of of the years. Cool paddle destination have included Chile, Norway and the incomparable coast of Scotland. Places that I simply must somehow get to paddle soon are the Pacific Northwest and Baja. There, not too bad. One's entire life encapsulated into a paragraph or so.
