I also think that 1/1/2000 would not be a good choice of dates. Imagine what the media will be covering on 1/1/2000. The summer of 2000 would be a better choice for many reasons. As can be seen at: http://www.sbcphd.org/ehs/oceanmn.htm we in the Santa Barbara area have many water quality problems that demand attention. Even beautiful and remote Santa Rosa Island has problems with its creeks. A look at the Surfrider website: http://www.surfrider.org/wqjump.htm shows that there are dozens of currently active water quality alerts along the california coast. Count me in.
