RE: [Paddlewise] plastic toughness

One reason that I chose the Wavehopper (MT
2000plastic) over any other DownRiver Boat, was the
huge amount of reading I did about people who were
constantly crushing other boats into rocks and
consequently - sinking. This cost many people the
race, their cash (can you insure a DR boat for that?)

Regarding all boats in general:
Plastic is heavier and arguably slower regardless the
shape, but for people who want to finish in one piece
on rocky trips with no soft landings, and can't afford
to replace or possibly repair boats in the boonies, it
seems the most logical way to go.
