The "official" method is to start from behind, and then rotate your legs
over the paddle. I find it much easier to start in front, hook my left
leg over the paddle, and stick my right leg directly into the cockpit.
Requires a lot less swapping of hands and feet on the paddle. 

Actually, I find re-enter and roll easier than that. I'm trying to
recruit some beginners to teach them that technique rather than a paddle
float rescue. The downside of the re-enter and roll is that you end up
with a lot of water in the boat. Unless you can attach your skirt upside
down.
