Yi! Not this again! Well, actually I've always felt that it was just a matter of time. I tried to create rec.boats.paddle.seakayak back in about 1995, but the time wasn't right for a split then. Most of the actual contributors to the newsgroup, including sea kayakers, were against the split then, and the supporters were mostly lurkers to whom it "sounded like a good idea".
