Several people have voiced interest to me directly, in the little HF transciever, so here goes. "I'll put this on the list in case someone else is interested" The radio was ordered direct from TOKYO HY-POWER, in Japan. There is no inporter for them to the states, but they are a good reputable company. They want money sent to them in YEN, so the price can vary depending on the exchange rate. Radio comes with three base load coils on a bnc conector,(one for each band), and a telescoping whip that interchanges between them.(real hand held) Takes 8 AA batterys, has external mike/speaker. Operates on USB,LSB, and CW. OCT issue of 1995 QST has exellant article on them. VERY well built HT!***IS NOT WATER PROOF**** BTW: From the time I sent the check to recieving it here was 8 days. Try that with most state side businesses. Hope that is helpful. Here is the ordering information. I put it off for a couple of years because of the hassle of the YEN. Actually it was no problem. I just called my bank and explained to them what I was trying to do and they knew just what to do. .................................................................. Here is the address and the "important" part of the letter I encluded with my bank check. Tokyo Hy-Power Labs, Inc 1-1 HATANAKA 3-CHROME. NIIZA, SAITAMA 352 JAPAN attention: International Trade Dept. Dear Ms. Nakashima, Thank you for the imformation and price list on the HT-750. I include a copy of same. Please also find enclosed, a check in the amount of 75,100.00 Japanese Yen, to cover the purchase of and EMS speed shipping of one HT-750, speaker/mic, and antenna set. (at the time I ordered mine the yen was poor against the US dollar. Not sure now.) If you want to send them a fax(I have a couple of times and got new prices or literature from them quickly), send it to, ATTEN:Ms. Nakashima, at: 011 81 48 479-6949. Be sure to set your machine up to give time for the above codes to have time to clear, before the phone number. "if I done it, anybody can" If you send a letter instead, for the info, besure to send it express mail. That will take about 4 days. PS: the radio comes with a leather hard case. If you fax or write them and ask for a brochure, you will note that they also have other extras for the radio."50 and 100 watt amp, and other.., that be used for base or mobile operations" If they have an e-mail address I'm unaware of it. You might also e-mail Mr. Douglas Rowlett, WB5IRI. at rowlett_d_at_hccs.cc.tx.us He wrote the article in QST that got me interested in the radio. A real gentleman, which I have talked to on 40M and he still has his HT and has had no problems with it. Same with mine. It is a surperb radio and fun to tell someone on 15 or 40 meters that you are talking to them on a HT and "rubber duck"! :>) Best of all I guess, is that it is perfect for a kayak. Just watch the water. Altho I have made many contacts using only the "rubber ducks"(including Australia), I carry a wire inverted V, that I set up on shore when time or location allows. As I have said, there is several marine nets that give good water and weather information, as well as pass messages, make phone patches, and so on.. They can be found on 40 and 15M bands, and the the antennas that come with the HT work just fine for that.(it has a very good pre-amp) Well, that should about cover it.
