Okay, today I'm totally cyber-impaired. Not just partly. This is what the note to PaddleWise, copied to Boulter for info, was supposed to look like in response to Clyde's post. Sorry. __________ > > Hey Joq, did you ever get hold of Boulter? I assume you were looking for > their drouge. > Yes, I did, Clyde. Thanks for the lead and sorry not to have reported back. It was their sea anchor, actually. (And thanks for the clarification on "sea anchor" and "drogue", which were being used interchangably for a while on this list. Was going to respond, but figured somebody'd eventually correct it.) Boulter of Earth is alive and well and living in New Jersey. Specifically: 46 Sussex Road, Washington Township, NJ 07675. Their e-mail is <bofearth_at_cybernex.net> and they're "working on" a web site, not yet functional. They sent me some info by snail- mail in response to an e-mail request. Their "DriftStopper" sea anchor is still available --- retails at $135 --- and looks pretty good; I saw it demoed at a DelMarVa Paddle Expo about eight years ago, and was impressed. They also have a lot of other interesting toys, and they included a list of 67 retailers --- mostly US, some Canadian, and a few European --- who carry their stuff. C'mon, web site! Another reference worth a look is the Spring 99 issue of the periodical, PassageMaker, which was mentioned by (I think) John Winters a while back. Wasn't easy to find even then, but it's good reading on the use of drogues and sea anchors, and includes a list of websites and companies involved in the production of these widgets. Worth reading if you can find it. Oh, standard disclaimer: no association with Boulter. Not even a satisfied customer yet.
