I for one, have to carry my boat down a 5 foot bank, over slippery rocks covered with oyster shells and back. I also have to solo load the boat on my van. EVERY oz makes a difference! I have foam seat and foot rests, removed the glass seat and have added nothing that would add significant weight and the boat is STILL too heavy at 48lbs. Kevlar and carbon is cheap compared to a back operation! cya >>> Why is there such a preoccupation amoung paddlers to get the absolutely lightest boat possible? Except for the few minutes that might take to unload and load the boat from a vehicle does a pound or two *really* make a measurable difference for most paddlers? *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu May 20 1999 - 06:51:51 PDT
