Re: [Paddlewise] Memorial Day Weekend

    I'll be down at Harpers Ferry this weekend.  Primarily paddling the
Staircase of the Shenandoah and part of the Potomac.
    But I'll be doing Antietam Creek as well.  This was one of the bloodiest
battles of the Civil War and it's an eerie feeling to be paddling past
Burnside Bridge and hearing the sounds of a military band and rifle volleys
from the visitor center for their memorial day celebration, knowing how many
soldiers died there....
    Incidentally, this is where Memorial Day started.
