Just came up with the way-coolest thing for on the water fun. I doubt very much that I'm the first but this might be a way to spend a wonderful holiday weekend. What I'm talking about is boomarangs (sp?). A friend of mine bought one and I asked if I could take out on the water...what a blast! Man is this just fun...imagine the wonder and awe that you will inspire with that first swift, silent, throw at a jet-skier. Amaze your friends and neighbors. -- Please understand that I am in no way encouraging you to hunt PWC while out paddling. Nor do I encourage you to take one head on. -- Its just a nice thought. Some of the things that I noticed on my first foray....If throwing right handed, keep the wind on your left beam for a better return. If you throw down wind or with the wind on your right, the boomarang will fly further with little or no return. If you throw directly into the wind, it will fly high then straight down and back. Couple of other things...paint it bright colors. Try not to throw into a large chop if there is any tide movement at all, you'll lose it fast! And try to see how far you can fly one at a height of about 3ft (figuring average center mass of a PWC). *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu May 27 1999 - 11:10:51 PDT
