I haven't stopped to find out. Waterloo is about 45 miles north of here and the last couple of years I've driven through just prior to Memorial day and they've got big signs over the road which read "Waterloo - where Memorial day was born" or something like that. I had never really thought about a national holiday having a city/town as it's founder before and I wonder if nearby Seneca Falls claim to be the founder of the women's right movement has anything to do with it. OB paddling content: The Seneca-Cayuga canal and the NY barge canal both run through both Waterloo and Seneca Falls and are great places to paddle. -- John Fereira jaf30_at_cornell.edu *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Fri May 28 1999 - 07:36:59 PDT
