Then instead of spending lots of money to shave off a few pounds, you can reduce the carrying weight to practically nothing for relatively little $. I have found that carts with inflatable tires are much easier to roll over sand and rough surfaces. They may not roll easily over slippery rocks and down a 5 foot bank but when I do that kind of thing, I am more concerned about falling down and breaking something than about developing a stress injury from the weight of a load. In the "Tsunami Rangers Guide to Ocean Adventure Kayaking" video, they demonstrated another technique to deal with this problem. Rather than carry their kayaks down 50 foot rocky bluffs, they just carry them to the edge and then drop them down. They do however, use 60+ pound kevlar kayaks that are built for this type of abuse. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
