If anyone on the list owns an ICOM IC-M3A VHF radio you may want to check your battery pack. Yesterday I was checking mine out before a trip next week. When I went to remove the battery pack from the back of the radio the little clip that keeps it locked into place snapped off. Due to the fact that it is no longer locked in place the contacts between the battery pack and the radio are not very good ( I guess if it happened in the field I could hold it together with duct tape). I bought it last June and have probably only removed the battery pack a half dozen times. I just took it back to the shop I purchased it from and they just gave me a brand new battery pack. They told me this problem has happened quite frequently with this particular model. I don't mean this to be a knock against ICOM products. I have been quite happy with the radio up to now and was happy with the way the problem was taken care of. Just thought I would pass this along so you can check your radio at home for wear and not have it break on a trip. Andrew Jones ______________________________ Kingfisher Wilderness Adventures Ltd.
