An OK solution is to copy your charts on mylar (overhead transparency material). It is indestructible. You can rinse them in fresh water and dry them off and use them over and over again. You can also easily make copies for others in your group. I am not sure what and/or how many copy write laws this method breaks but it works well. I just put the sheet under my deck bungie and I have black lines over the light green of my deck.
