The original Photon has a squeeze switch which won't work for a compass light (unless maybe you clamp a vice grip on it). The Photon II has a switch which can be left on. I have a couple of the originals I salt around my hiking gear zippers. I ran over one in my Civic and it was unharmed. I got a couple of lights from http://www.ndsproducts.com/. The green ones cost twice the reds (30US vs 15). The red 3-LED 2AA light works well as a reading light on a headband. Probably good for a signal light too. I looked at the The American Association of Amateur Astronomers discussion and immediately got wary of their scientific method when the first sentence said: The luminous efficiency of radiant energy is dependent on the ability of various receiving and measuring devices. Measuring devices don't affect efficiency. Perceived efficency maybe. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu Jun 24 1999 - 17:27:42 PDT
