[Paddlewise] Storage of plastic boats

....well, I live in rural Wyoming, hot dry summers, cold windy winters, and
at an elevation of 5100', about 300+ days of sun (clear and partially
cloudy days.) Wyoming has the 2nd highest rate of melanoma ( UV induced skin
cancer) in the US.

I leave my poly OT Disco174 outdoors, year round, with a tarp thrown over
it. In 5 years I have not noticed any discoloration (the tarp isn't big
enough to cover the bow and stern completely), thus far it hasn't snapped in
two, cracked , etc. ,etc. I did put "Armor-All" on it for the first time,
this year. Now.. if I had $2900 invested in a Bell "black and gold"
Northwoods....LOL. ( I would probably have a more refined sense of "pride of
ownership".
We leave tomorrow for a 5 week paddle on the Barrengrounds of NWT/Canada.
If I DO put my foot through the bottom of the canoe...I will regret the bad
karma of this post . :)
