Susan and I took off to Acadia Nat'l park on thurday and got back yesterday afternoon. If youve never been there, you must plan a trip. Simply the most varied, beautiful peaceful place to be. Anyways We paddled the entire length of Sommes Sound. I think the paddle was about 10 miles total. This was a big paddle for us, really the first salt water paddle of any consequence. Plenty of wind, currents and waves (for us, ripples for most of you) On our paddle south we were with the outgoing tide, into a pretty strong headwind, on our paddle back we were with the incoming tide, with the wind, we did some surfing, we did. A really great confidence builder A couple more days of hiking and paddling, and we know we will be back. We met quite a few fellow paddlers. All in all a great time. Thank you to all who responded (even if it took some arm twisting) The thread on leg power is most interesting and pretty much takes the topic where I was hoping it would go. After paddling a total of about 16 hours this weekend, the Sommes sound trip alone was around 6-7 I have no soreness in my arms or shoulders and a general feeling of fitness all around. The leg thing really really works for me physically, stamina wise and power wise. I hope to continue to use it and explore the limits of my abilities. Thanks again Jim *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
