Or perhaps the title should be, "Ode to a sit-on-top "barge". Susie, Your post doesn't specify which of the three new Hobie kayaks caught your eye (two/one seat, single seat or the single seat with the underwater "wings"). I've spent a goodly bit of time paddling the two/one seat boat (Odyssey) and found it to be superior to all other SOT kayaks I have tried. It's speed, tracking, internal storage volume and assorted features are very well thought out. If the decision were soley (sp) up to me the Odyssey would be what my girlfriend and I would be paddling now. Unfortunately, she, as with many people, thinks that SOT's are inferior to more "traditional" boats and thus we compromised and chose another (Dagger Bayou 2). If the decision had to be made all over again ... ? Gary >Does anyone on the list own a Hobie Kayak? I just discovered today that >Hobie Cat makes them now. They are sit on tops, about 12' long, with >drainage away from the seat so your not sitting in a puddle... Aparrantly >(sp?) they are very nice boats. Would be interested in hearing opinions on >them, from the sit on top group here.... >Susie *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
