I have only named my Expedition Sea kayak, I named it: Len's Island. I came up with the name whilst having a break, drinking hot chocolate and eating some biscuits, during an open crossing no land in site, it was like I'm sitting on my own Island in the ocean. I read recently that it was considered inappropriate to give a kayak a name. The argument went along the lines that a kayak should be used as an extension of the body, not something separate providing a safe haven after the manner of a larger boat. Now I can think of half a dozen good reasons to name a kayak and wondered what proportion of kayakers did? So if anyone is interested and would like to reply direct or on Paddlewise I'll give the results of a 'straw poll' next week!
