Well, Susie, I had good luck with a pair of Merrells of ancient manufacture -- the anchors lasted forever, and the blame things had a form-fitting strap which adjusted well and was secured with a Fastex buckle. Wore 'em out -- the soles got too thin. Have not been able to find anything comparable. I really hate velcro straps, 'cause they release at inopportune moments, and the velcro catches on stuff and picks up cockleburrs. Don't use sandals inside the boat, cause they give too much heel lift and don't have good heel padding Been using Okespor wet suit booties when the water is cold. They have massive, well-contoured padding on the heel. The other watershoe I like is a (discontinued, I think) mesh thing made by Adidas. Really ugly, with a green/puke yellow/black motif. But, being mesh, it drains well, and postpones the foot mungies. Got a rugged sole, and a massively padded heel. Good for when the water warms up some. Good luck in your search. -- Dave Kruger Astoria, OR *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu Jul 15 1999 - 05:05:40 PDT
