[Paddlewise] Call For Kayakers For California Crossings

Kayakers,

I'll be informally leading a kayaking adventure that starts Friday, July 23, 
1999, in Ventura/Oxnard, California and crosses the 12/15 mile channel to 
Anacapa Island.  We will camp the night there.  On Saturday we will make a 
four mile crossing to Santa Cruz Island and camp the night there.  On Sunday 
we will cross the 20 mile channel back to Ventura/Oxnard, which completes the 
trip.

Reservations have been made and those joining me will not have to pay any 
fees.  (It cost me only $5.00)  This is an oportiunity to paddle two of 
California's most beautiful islands, not to mention holding bragging rights 
to some well known and repected channel crossings.

I am looking for three advanced kayak adventurers for these crossings.  If 
you don't know if you are ready for this kind of paddling, then you are not 
ready for it.  You must love getting your ass kicked by the ocean and being 
shark bait.  By the way, there won't be a support boat, and one isn't wanted.

Sorry about the short notice but another trip I was scheduled to attend was 
canceled today, so I quickly arranged my own in place of it.

responses, please!  Kayakers who I know and have paddled with will get 
selected first, but don't worry, not many of the kayakers I know want to do 
this kind of extreme paddling.
