Simultaneously I received a copy of a report and an appeal for protection of Asiatic Turtles through CITES and International government agencies concerned with protection of endangered species. Bluntly, The sheer existence of turtles in Asia (as well as most of the rest of the world) is very much in jeopardy. They are being eaten by the Millions in China, the Phillippines, etc. In some cases the known world population of one formerly abundant species is now down to 9 individuals!
