Larry; Wierd as it may seem the trick to a quick and easy re-enty is in what you do with your paddle. My experience in teaching people is that they tend to fumble with the paddle or they hold the paddle in an inefficient way and it forces them to attempt to climb into the boat from a bad angle. Try this and see if it helps: If you are setting up for a right-hand role place the paddle parallel to the kayak and hold it and the cockpit coaming with your left hand (on the left-hand side of the boat with your right hand on the right side of the boat/coaming). This keeps the paddle out of the way and lets you easily set the boat on edge so that you can climb in smoothly. Next, work your way in as far as possible without your head going under water then take a couple of deep breaths and commit to climbing in the rest of the way with with your head under. Finish by pulling yourself into the seat (your hands are still in their original positions) and putting your feet on the foot rests. Your left hand is still holding the boat and paddle so reach up now with your right hand and grab the paddle with it as well. You are pretty much automatically in your set-up position so, do a little blade adjustment and role up. Doing it this way will keep the whole process much more organized and smooth which also has the added benefit of giving you more time since you will not have to waste effort flailing around. Try it, you'll like it. John Winskill ne111er_at_webtv.net wrote: > > I cant seem to get the reentry part of the reentry and roll.
