I have 4 boats hanging from the rafters in my garage but only one with
pulleys. I have 2 pairs of pulleys attached to 2 long scuba belts (Scuba
belt webbing is stiffer then regular 2" webbing) with quick release scuba
buckles on each. I have attached the webbing to the pulleys by using a 2"
piece of narrow diameter pvc pipe with a loop of nylon cord running through
the pipe. The pulley is attached to the loop, then the belt runs over the
pipe so the belt is free to slide as required. I have a cleat attached to a
stud in the wall.

The other boats use the same system without the pulley lift. The tube/loop
assembly is permanently affixed to the rafters. It's a 2 person operation.
The belt is buckled and one end of the boat is inserted, then the other belt
is buckled underneath the boat. The you grab the buckle and simply cinch up
the belts the boat is where you want it. Someone supporting the boat in the
middle makes cinching a snap.

You can buy scuba belt material and plastic quick release buckles by the
foot at any good dive shop.

We wish to store our two kayaks and canoe in the garage using pulleys and
slings. Any suggestions on how to set this up?

Thanks in advance,
