It is for Sea Kayak Proficiency level dated Aug. 29, 1995 signed by Jonathan Howard of Westbrook, Conn. who at that time was a E-1. No mention of a rating number was on the Certificate. At the time it was the first level without an assigned number. Also the following season the requirements for that level got more stringent requiring a roll in rough seas which I can not do. The only reason I mentioned it was so the folks on the list would know I'm not a novice. Yes, that course and other courses I have taken do cover cold water paddling which I do here....but....I never assume I know or remember everything. I'm always learning and since this trip is a first for me I would like to take advantage of the local knowledge of others who have. Just may be they have some little bit of local knowledge that may help make this excursion safer and more fun.! I hadn't asked the list for this local knowledge ... yet ... should have ... am now...
