Chuck - Although I have a (probably well-deserved) reputation for being more than a little compulsive, the same sort of thing happened to me. But my Romany (how dare you call it a "British battleship"? Harumph harumph!) did slide off the rack on a curve. Amazingly enough, it hit nothing but the road, and with only a few (more) scratches in the gelcoat at that. So - after that, I was much more careful. But yesterday it happened again - forgot to tie down the bow. This second time, the boat stayed atop the car. Almost makes me think that there is a God, who protects fools like me.
