[Paddlewise] looking for sea kayak

I am looking to buy a sea touring kayak in good shape, plastic OK,
fiberglas better, preferably with a rudder and lots of stowage,
preferably generously sized. It's for my boyfriend, who is 6'4" and 220
lbs - more tall than wide, but with big shoulders and quads (he's a
mountain biker). We rented a Nekky Pinta for a recent trip and it was
way too big for him. My Sealion is only a smidge too small.

I'm new to kayaking, and a new boat owner myself. Since I am a newbie,
and my boyfriend even more of a novice, I'm not looking for a high
performance boat, but definitely one that he can grow into. I am in the
Portland, OR area, and would be willing to travel a bit to check out the
right boat.

BTW, can anyone recommend VERY clean waters to paddle in the area? I do
know of Waldo Lake, which is supposed to be cleaner than distilled
water. I have a friend who cannot be exposed to any bad bugs or polluted
water, but who really wants to take up paddling. How is Lost Lake in the
Mt. Hood area?
