RE: [Paddlewise] Bears

there have been "studies" on the effectiveness of pepper sprays. Much of the 
effectiveness is dependent on how close the sprayer is to the sprayee.  If I 
remember correctly, you'd have to have a steady hand and nerves of steel to 
get off your direct, close-range, hit to the bear's eyes/nose.

Tho I have noticed rangers at Glacier with BIG cans of bear spray on their 
belts.
