Once when I was backpacking in the remote stretches of Yosemite National Park on a national Sierra Club trip, a young black bear put its paw through the leaders' tent. The wife clapped her hands and yelled at him, and he ran a short distance away. But he hung around for a while, and we got a great view of him! He was golden colored. BTW, we did have our food hung properly, but perhaps someone was careless with the debris from their fish-cleaning.
