Hi, guys: Maligiaq's boat is in Miami - courtesy of Scott Baxter who will take it up to Waterways Kayak tomorrow where Chuck Davis has kindly offered to store it. Hopefully it will be on display and those interested can go an see it. It's 18" wide! I spoke with Maligiaq today and he kindly said I could try it "if you are skinny." Anyone who has seen my hips will be laughing right now!! M has indicated that he wants to race in the 5-mile race with the 18-39ers. Paddlewiser Kirk Olsen has offered to contribute the $50 Registration Fee for Maligiaq. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, KIRK. I'm now looking for a volunteer to narrate the rolls. Since Scott Baxter has already volunteered to go out in his boat as a monitor, I'm wondering if he would consider doing this? To quote Mark Zen: "I've never even really seen much in the way of greenland style boats before meeting Maligiaq ;) and i was able to narrate. maligiaq wrote his routine down on paper, his dad helped a bit, and i winged it from the water -while in my boat." I have asked the Cystic Fibrosis event coordinator to arrange for a bullhorn or other loudspeaker system. HOW ABOUT IT SCOTT? Anybody else willing to volunteer in case Scott can't? I am copying this to a list I've made of local paddlers. I will be sending updates to the main Paddlewise list but won't bore the members with the little things that need to be arranged. Local paddlers: Please let me know if you want to be kept on or if you would like your name deleted. IF THERE ARE ANY PADDLEWISE MEMBERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE ADDED PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Sorry this is so long.
