Hello all... Maligiaq is one tired but happy boy tonight. After a tough race mostly up current he finished 12th in a time of 3 hours and 5 minutes (5.3 km/hr average). The winners managed it in just over 2 hours in very specialized boats. These guys are pros from South Africa who paddle all over the world - pretty stiff competition! Maligiaq's placement in about mid-field is extremely good for so young a competitor. Next weekend it's off to Forestville for the big race on Sunday. We'll be driving down there on Friday. In the meantime he'll be staying with me and will have a chance to rest as well as paddle his QCC boat and get to know its characteristics better.
