Blazing paddles has just been reprinted, and the local bookshops in Aberdeen are
certainly stocking copies. Blazing paddles is ** the ** most entertaining paddling
book I've read, and IMHO a better read than Dances with Waves which was pretty
good too - I couldn't recommend it more highly. Probably now be able to get a new
copy via amazon.com.

just back yesterday from a scorching trip paddling around the inner sound - Skye,
Rassay, and the Crowlins :-)

Just checked Amazon.com and it isn't listed. Really would like to get a
copy, Colin. Any Aberdeen book shops on the internet? Does any one else
have an idea for a source.

Thanks,

Bob,

Most book stores can get it for you, keeping in mind that organizations such
as amazon.com and Barnes and Noble are geared towards high volume, low
margin sales, they can't make any money carrying books such as this - it
would be like going to your local WalMart or Target and expecting to find a
good selection of specialty kayak gear. I would recommend picking up your
local Houston yellow pages and calling one of the stores listed under books,
they'll probably be able to get it for you in 2-5 days at or below it's
suggested retail price.

Good Luck - Saul

amazon.com stocks very little of the books it lists, it is a database more
than a warehouse. They can and will order any book in or out of print. -Fred

You could try your local library, and see if they can interlibrary loan it
(could be difficult when there are only 3 copies listed on OCLC in the US -
for 2 libraries in Alaska, and one at Harvard). Here's some info to help
you find it...

Blazing Paddles: A Scottish Coastal Odyssey
1988, reprinted 1998
ISBN 0953276805 (International Standard Book Number - It can be used by
your local book store to order the book!)
OR
Blazing Paddles: Around Scotland by Kayak
1988
ISBN 0946609594 (this one might be out of print, but it was the one with 3
U.S. holdings according to OCLC, a library database, so it could be loaned
to your local library)

I'm not sure if they are the same book with different sub-titles or not.
Both are by Brian Wilson.

Good Luck!
Juls :)
