BHansen questioned that response and I would like to apologize at this time. As I responded to BHansen, I am not a physician nor do I play one on the Internet. It is not my intention to cause harm to anyone. I am trained as a Wilderness First Responder and as such I realize that medicine is dynamic. Quite often the agencies involved with educating the public are not quite as dynamic. Ex., it took twelve years for the Red Cross to adopt the Heimlich Maneuver as protocol for choking victims. The campaign, to my understanding, may have damaged the working relationship between the ARC and Dr. Heimlich. Camps are decidedly split on the Heimlich for drowning victims and I do not presume to have the definitive answer, if their is one. My point would be, be prepared. Once again I would apologize and encourage everyone to research this topic further as I believe it has particular relevance in a deepwater situation. Diverlink - Heimlich Maneuver Used In The Water Bruce (St. Aug) Whole Earth Outfitters *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
