After returning from a 10 day trip to Desolation Sound and areas to the north I would like to revise a an earlier posting and say that though I had never seen any bears or signs of bears in the area, that is not the case anymore. While walking on the sand bars of the estuary of the Quatum River in Ramsay Arm I saw paw prints that were definitely GRIZZLEY. They were extremely large compared to the prints left by the bears that visit our compost bin and the claw length, well they were long. So folks, when on the mainland and near major rivers, watch out for our bruin friends of the large variety.
