Joseph Sanford asks - << Does it matter in the handling of the craft where you place the cargo so long as you do not disturb the center of mass? >> Actually, I think there may be one more "rat fact" which is worth mention. Load the things with the most mass, such as water, on the *bottom* of the boat. I was once foolish enough to load some of the "massier" things nearer that sheerline. Needless to say, that really did "disturb the center of mass" and decreased my boat's stability. (Yeah yeah yeah.... I can already hear the chorus of "Duhhhh.....". But there may be others out there with my same level of intelligence. Not in this group, of course.) Water on the bottom of the boat - both outside and inside. - Bill Hansen *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Fri Sep 03 1999 - 11:59:37 PDT
