Last October, the organizers of the Delmarva Paddler's Retreat arranged for 
Maligiaq Padilla, the Greenland National Kayak Champion, to attend its 10th 
annual retreat.  Since then, Maligiaq has traveled around the Untited States 
doing many demonstrations.  He also built a boat while in the States.  He 
will be coming again to the Delmarva Paddler's Retreat as his last stop 
before returning to Greenland.  I hope throughout the year many of you had 
the opportunity to watch Maligiaq in his boat and witness his superior skill. 
 I also hope that you may have had the opportunity to meet with him and talk 
with him.  

As Maligiaq is preparing to leave our country he would also like to take the 
boat that he built with him.  The expense is large.  At the Delmarva 
Paddler's Retreat we will be holding a silent auction to help raise money to 
send the boat back to Greenland.  The retreat will be held the weekend of 
October1,2 and 3.  If anyone would be willing to help support this effort by 
donating items for auction or a simple cash donation please contact me. If 
you are interested in attending the retreat you may also contact me for more 
information. The paddling community reaped the benefits of Maligiaq's visit 
to the United States now let's help send his boat back with him.
