Last March I organized a two-day charter trip to Catalina Island for thirty kayak fishermen, scheduled for September 18-19. It sold out within a month. But recently a few of the participants have had to cancel due to medical problems or work conflicts. It's far past the refund deadline, so they stand to lose their $200 investment. With so little time remaining until the trip, I'm posting this message to see if any PaddleWise kayakers are interested in buying their spots. There are four spots available. The trip takes place on the Great Escape, a large, very nicely appointed dive boat out of San Pedro (see details at www.diveboat.com). We board the boat Friday night, sleep aboard, the boat departs predawn, and arrives at Catalina at first light. We fish all day Saturday and Sunday at various island locations and return to San Pedro about 6:00 P.M. Sunday. Saturday night will be at anchor in Hamilton Cove with access to Avalon via shoreboat (or via your kayaks, I guess, should you choose). $200 buys a bunk, all meals, all non-alcoholic beverages, live bait, and kayak transport. A pretty darn good deal. That's partly because this is a non-profit, co-op trip, and all money taken in is being spent on the above. This was a wildly popular idea when proposed last March.
