[Paddlewise] velcro and paddles

    On my first solo paddle a few weeks ago, I used the Velcro fastened
bungie cord on my paddle.  When it was time to pack up, I started dragging
the boat up the beach to the car.  After a few steps it just seemed  the
chore just got more and more difficult.  I turned around and looked.  The
paddle had fallen out of the boat and had dug into the sand on the beach as
I had pulled the boat up the beach.  The Velcro never let go.  The bungie
held.  It was like a sling shot.  I think it will serve me well when used
for its original purpose.
