...and he ain't here yet!! Well, Amtrak cancelled their trains to Florida because of Hurricane Floyd, so the first train John Heath was able to book him on leaves Houston TOMORROW Thursday. He arrives in Orlando on FRIDAY at 3:20 and the race is on SATURDAY. This really is cutting it close. In view of this, I have booked him a flight from Orlando arriving in Fort Lauderdale (near to Waterways Kayak in Hollywood) and am hoping that Chuck Davis will be able to meet or arrange for someone to meet M. I understand that Chuck has graciously offered to cover this expense, for which my credit card is eternally grateful! I've had a couple of people say they will send some money as a pledge for Maligiaq's participation in the race, but realize that I forgot to put my address the last time. Checks payable to: The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Sandy Kramer 15541 SW 109 Terrace Miami, Fl 33196 Please let me know if and how much you are "pledging" so I can write it on the still-blank pledge sheet. Doesn't matter if it arrives after the race. The interesting piece of news is that Hunter Reno (niece of US Attorney General Janet Reno - a native of this neck of the woods) has arranged for our local PBS to film a documentary on the evolution of kayaking in South Florida (!!!??!! - Tequesta Indians in dugouts perhaps!?) and will be filming the race and Maligiaq and his rolls as well as the other special guests, of course. Public Broadcasting Television is sort of like our BBC in that it is non-commercial and shows "culture" and the like programs, including Britcoms - British comedies. Not that Fawlty Towers and the Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced "bouquet" as she always says) shows qualify as culture, but they're as funny as hell.
