If you want to snorkel (and you will want to snorkel) bring a wetsuit and
hood because the water is very cold in that area due to the deep channels
and fast currents bringing up cold water from down deep. I'd guess 10
degrees cooler than other area on the Sea of Cortez.
If you see a bunch of birds circling and diving in one area get closer. A
feeding frenzy involving several species of birds and mammals at once
attacking a school of fish is an impressive sight and that is the only area
I have ever seen one, wish I had a video camera it was wild and crazy.
February is a very windy month, be prepared to be tied down for days by the
El Nortes or even worse the Elephantine winds from a Pacific cold front
pouring over the ridges and down the canyons (with foggy trunks). I measured
gusts to sixty-five mph which was as high as my wind meter went (and that
was in March).
