If you are handy you could Yeah, I turned it inside out and washed it yesterday (it was filthy, not just dirty!), and so got more rippage. What is the best tool, an awl (sp?) The keelstrips actually look pretty good. One is pealing off though, so I guess I'll clean off the old glue, sand it, and reglue with either Klepper Glue, Barge Cement, or some other glue (it's the grey hull). The bow is the worst. I guess I'll get some rubber fabric and glue it together, sew new blue to the blue and then to the hull. Still think it's better than spending $2000 on a new hull, believe it or not. The wood was all painted white but is flaking off the still nice varnish underneith. Only one piece of the coming needs replacement or wood puddy as you mentioned in the book, and then re-hinging.
